Your organization
Name
- What it does
- What members see when they open Doris, and what goes on every email and statement. It is read-only here. The owner changes it by running the setup again from this page.
- Default
- What you entered at sign-up.
- For
- Every venue.
- For example
- A therapy practice. Riverside Counseling Center.
- A village hall. St Mary's Village Hall.
Address & contact
- What it does
- Your registered and venue addresses, phone, website and country. The address goes on statements. The country sets the currency prices are shown in.
- Default
- The country from sign-up; the rest blank.
- For
- Every venue that sends statements.
- Part of
- Owner only
- For example
- A village hall. The hall's address for the venue, the clerk's for the registered office.
Timezone
- What it does
- Where your venue is, so today and every reminder land at the right hour. Bookings keep their local times: a ten o'clock booking stays at ten. The daily digest, statements and calendar feeds follow the new zone.
- Default
- Taken from your browser when the organization was created.
- For
- Every venue, once.
- Part of
- Owner only
- Leave it alone if
- It was right when you signed up.
- For example
- A co-working hub. A hub in Sydney keeps its diary in Sydney time.
Active membership
- What it does
- Pause members who have not booked for a while, and tidy them away later. A member with no bookings for the months you set shows an Inactive badge and cannot book until an admin wakes them up on their page. After a further 30 days they are removed from your organization; mark anyone Keep always active to exempt them.
- Default
- Off. When on, 6 months without a booking.
- For
- Venues whose member list grows stale over the years.
- Part of
- Owner only
- Leave it alone if
- You would rather manage the list by hand.
- For example
- A village hall. Twelve months, so a summer-only hirer is still active when they return.
Who runs it
Ownership
- What it does
- Hand the organization to another member. The new owner gets everything only an owner can do. You become an admin, or a booker if the admin seats are full.
- Default
- The person who signed up.
- For
- Any venue where the person in charge changes.
- Part of
- Owner only
- Leave it alone if
- The owner is in place and active.
- For example
- A village hall. The outgoing chair hands over to the new booking secretary after the AGM.
Request ownership transfer
- What it does
- Ask Doris to transfer ownership when the owner has gone. I tell the current owner and review the request. You can withdraw it at any time.
- Default
- No request.
- For
- An admin whose owner has gone.
- Leave it alone if
- The owner is reachable; ask them instead.
- For example
- A village hall. The treasurer who left the parish without handing over.
Run setup again
- What it does
- Walk through every setting in order, with tips. Nothing is reset; each step shows what you have now. Only the owner can run it.
- Default
- Owner only, from this page.
- For
- A new administrator learning the settings.
- Part of
- Owner only
- Leave it alone if
- You know your way around Settings.
- For example
- A therapy practice. The new practice manager walks the setup once, reading each tip.
